Don’t miss this ‘experience of a lifetime’ to witness one of the most spectacular meteor showers called Camelopardalids –named after there because Giraffe Constellation from where it originates.
The good news is that a public event is being hosted by the Dubai Astronomy Group on Friday night at Bab Al Shams Desert Resort and Spa will take place between 9pm on Friday and 5am on Saturday.
The debris trail from Comet 209P/Linear, discovered in 2004, is the originator of this meteor shower and the Earth will cross the comet path, news agency WAM reported.
“Based on professional forecasts, this new Meteor shower could be an astronomical experience of a life-time and produce a unique meteor storm which would see dense outbursts of bright multiple meteors and provide in excess of 1000 shooting stars an hour during a peak shower. The lowest expectation would be 60-100 meteors an hour throughout the night,” a statement said.
Guests will get the chance to use the clubs telescopes and other celestial objects to help aid them in seeing the shower more clearly.
The event will also feature relevant live presentations and videos about the night sky, plus live broadcasts with others in the international outreach community.
