FEELING THE CHILL? HERE’S WHERE TO GET THE BEST HOT CHOCOLATE IN DUBAI

A round-up of where to drink hot chocolate in Dubai.

There’s nothing like a mug of steaming hot chocolate to cheer us up on a winter’s day in Dubai – after all, 20˚C may be classed as summer elsewhere, but it leaves full-time residents here feeling chilled to the bone.  If you need to warm up, here are our suggestions for Dubai’s most delicious hot chocolates:

If you are at the mall then try out the New York style hot chocolate by heading to Alisons Chocolate Bar to sip the piping hot drink that is intense in flavour, but very light in texture. The cocoa flavour is just right; not too strong or too sweet (23 AED).

Got a sweet tooth and not watching your weight? Head to Kozi Africafe on the lower ground floor of Dubai Mall. No bitterness here, as the hot chocolate is perfect for those who like their drink to be very sweet and creamy (16AED).

Looking for a little après-ski? Order the piping Swiss hot chocolate at Saint Moritz Café by Ski Dubai. Few things beat gazing out at the ski slopes, whilst sipping a cup of the earthy and very soothing drink (15AED). Just what the doctor ordered for the coldest days in Dubai.

If you prefer dark chocolate, here is your fix try out the Mexican-style hot chocolate at Baker and Spice (Souk al Bahar and Dubai Marina) is like drinking a bar of rich, dark chocolate. (30 AED).

If you consider yourself a bit of a foodie and put quality before quantity, you must try the delightful and perfectly textured hot chocolate at Debauve and Gallais in the DIFC (30 AED). Enjoy in the tasteful Versailles-style interior – or grab a takeaway cup to enjoy back at your desk.

For those of you who want to make your own hot chocolate at home then the Angelina hot chocolate recipe is quite memorable. Luxurious and heavenly, they use quality ingredients that make it easy to replicate the old-style hot chocolate in your own home. So, while the purists love the powder version that can be readjusted in its texture and thickness, there is also a liquid version that is pre-made and ready to drink. Don’t be surprised by the “solid” texture (see image above), its needs to be heated to turn into a liquid form. Sold in a glass bottle, you can choose from the sugar-added and sugar-free versions.
