THIS BEIRUT GEM IS NOW AT EXPO 2020

Beirut’s favorite neighborhood joint Baron is now at Expo 2020.

Located next to the Al Wasl Dome, Baron is Beirut’s much-loved restaurant. Known for their casual vibe and fantastic food, we were quick to accept the dinner invitation to their first Dubai outlet at Expo 2020.

The inside is cozy and overlooks the open kitchen and bar but for our first experience, we decided to sit outdoors. Overlooking the fabulous Al Wasl Dome, there is a sense of excitement and a buzz that comes from being at ‘the greatest show in the world’. Although the dining space is quite private and is surrounded by foliage, the dome is in full view and diners can enjoy the show from their table.

The menu is an eclectic mix of small and big sharing dishes. Using local produce and spices, each dish has an unexpected twist. Every recipe has a few different elements and ingredients that we won’t really imagine together and this made us very curious.

We started with the Baron signature dish that will wow everyone on the table. The humble cauliflower has been completely revamped and presented in the most grand fashion-“spiced” butter, tahini, walnut-salsa, pomegranate, herbs and rose petals. This dish is simply glorious in both taste and presentation!

The next dishes would need to compete hard to really standout once we had tried the cauliflower, but they all had their own distinct flavors. The king mushroom with whipped chickpea, vadouvan butter, chatta, seeds and lemon was hearty and had the perfect balance of flavors.

The brussel sprouts have a mellow flavor that isn’t overpowering. Topped with miso butter, a sour-salty dressing, crisp shallots, coriander and lime, this was another huge hit on our table.

From the beef section we picked the melt-in-the-mouth brisket served inside a steamed bao bun, hoisin, sriracha, kewpie, peanuts, coriander, and house quick-pickle.

The “Baron spiced” fried chicken came as the finale. Crispy on the outside and juicy inside the chicken was topped with kewpie mayo, carrot-pickle and served inside a brioche bun. Despite being very full, we didn’t regret ordering this dish for a second!

Baron is a restaurant that brings the true essence of Beirut to Dubai and we have our fingers crossed they will stay on even once the Expo has wrapped up!

Baron is located at Expo 2020 Dubai.
