A NOSTALGIC ITALIAN TRATTORIA IN THE HEART OF DUBAI

Scalini has reopened its doors after a refresh. A firm favourite with its regular patrons, the restaurant combines understated elegance with a warm and lively atmosphere. The menu stays true to its Italian roots, drawing on generational recipes and much-loved classics.

The refreshed interiors stay true to Scalini’s signature blue and yellow palette. The main dining room, overlooking the bustling open kitchen, feels polished but still warm and inviting. Outside, the veranda has a distinctly Mediterranean feel, with citrus trees beneath a white pergola and Sicilian-inspired blue majolica tiles adding a playful touch.

Executive Chef Francesco Cortorillo brings back Scalini favourites alongside a few new additions. Among them is the Crudo di Gamberi Rossi di Mazara, pairing raw Sicilian red prawns with yellow Datterino tomatoes, white grape vinegar, olive oil, basil and fresh chilli. Light and fresh, it’s an excellent start to the meal.

The Tartara di Manzo is another classic, prepared table-side with two types of mustard, capers, fresh chives and extra-virgin olive oil. Inspired by the Amalfi Coast, the Linguine alla Nerano combines fried Italian zucchini, fresh basil and Provolone del Monaco for a creamy, flavourful pasta.

For something lighter, the Insalata di Gamberi e Asparagi pairs grilled prawns with white and green asparagus and avocado. The Polpo e Patate is tender roasted octopus with baby potatoes and olive oil. Delicate and full of flavour, it has all the simplicity of coastal Italian cooking.

The signature Spaghetti all’Astice is one of Scalini’s most iconic dishes. Lobster is served simply with spaghetti, homemade tomato sauce, basil and olive oil. Rich without being heavy, it’s generous, full of flavour.

Dessert should not be missed. The indulgent Bomboloni alla Nutella are Italian-style doughnuts filled with warm Nutella, while the Crème Brûlée has a creamy vanilla bean custard and perfectly crisp caramelised top.

Scalini serves traditional, family-style Italian food in generous portions, while the stylish interiors bring a subtle touch of 1960s Italian nostalgia.
