GITANO Dubai on J1 Beach is a lively modern Mexican restaurant and beach club with a vibrant atmosphere.
Gitano on J1 Beach stretches across 16,000 sq ft, boasting the Jungle Room, a dining pergola, beach lounge, pool, cabanas, and a rooftop terrace overlooking the skyline and sea. Drawing inspiration from Tulum’s jungles, it’s pulsing with Dubai’s lively energy.
The menu blends modern Mexican flavours with global influences. We started with the signature Guacamole with crispy tostadas and colourful crudités-a creamy, tangy dish so moreish that we nibbled on it throughout the meal.
Next up was the Hamachi Tostada presented in a striking style with avocados and herbs artfully arranged on top-visually stunning and bursting with bright, addictive flavours.
The tender Tuna Botana was a standout with a subtle hint of spice.
The aromatic, tangy Chicken Pastor was utterly delicious and paired perfectly with the smoky chipotle potatoes. The Grilled Shrimp tacos had a nice smoky char with the blood orange and cabbage added a fresh, satisfying crunch to it.
We ended with warm, sugar-dusted churros served with a rich chocolate sauce-totally worth the calories!
Gitano, meaning “gypsy” in Spanish, truly lives up to its name -a place that blends vibrant energy, global flavours, and a laid-back charm. It’s an experience that feels both transportive and effortlessly cool-the perfect spot to unwind, indulge, and soak in the atmosphere.
