Toko offers contemporary Japanese cuisine and the menu features delectable street food with a twist.  Their latest offering, is a Night Brunch that we were recently invited to experience.  Hosted weekly on Tuesday night from 7pm-10pm, guests are treated to the ‘Yugure’ (Twilight) Menu, that consists of a playful four-part menu.
We were seated in the intimate and relaxed lounge and bar area, with a DJ playing a chilled out remix of songs in the background. Â The menu is extensive and begins with a delicious array of starters including green prawn curry soup, crispy peking duck salad, chicken yakitori, black cod and prawn fish cakes and vegetable spring rolls.
The dim sum baskets arrive next-we had a choice of two from the wide selection of dumplings listed on the menu. Â Our pick of the seafood and asparagus dumplings along with the prawn har gau were presented in delicate casing and packed with flavour.
The main course comprises of some very tempting dishes including braised beef and barbecue duck. Â We picked the trio of sliders and soft shell crab served in powdery white buns-a hearty and very satisfying end to the savoury part of the menu.
Dessert is simple-a selection of creamy mochi ice cream to wrap up the night.
Overall, the Tuesday Night Brunch is a mid-week treat that will lift up your spirits and is a great way to catch up with friends.
Tuesday Night Brunch (7pm-10pm) is priced at 195 AED per person. Ladies also enjoy two complimentary glasses of house grape or two impressive ‘twilight’ concoctions specific to the night brunch only.
