From live music to guacamole made on the table, they offer it all.

It is no secret that Jumeirah Mina A’ Salam is one of our favorite hotels in Dubai but surprisingly this was our first visit to their Mexican restaurant, Tortuga. While the indoor decor is filled with colorful features, the outdoor terrace overlooking the canal is picturesque and was ideal for when we visited on a chilly January evening.

The menu is a combination of the usual classics like fajitas and more complex dishes such as ceviche.  Of course, we began with a bowl of guacamole, which totally blew us away. Prepared on our table, it was absolute explosion of flavours that we scooped up with the homemade nachos. The tuna ceviche was delicate yet seasoned to perfection-we were quick to wipe the plate clean.

An array of different tacos followed these starters. We picked Battered black cod fish, battered black tiger prawn and flat iron wagyu. We stood divided when it came to picking one firm favorite-each one had its unique textures and toppings.

The star dish of the evening was the Ajillo octopus. This slow-cooked Spanish octopus was served with black bean puree and roasted potatoes.

We ended the meal with a Mexican choco cake that was accompanied with chocolate crumble, pecans and cinnamon ice cream.

The service and atmosphere are both top-notch. The live music is enjoyable and gives the place a really upbeat vibe.

The best way to experience Tortuga is to share a variety of their dishes. Everything you order here is freshly made using authentic Mexican ingredients and recipes.
