La Serre is the latest place to see and be seen. Offering quintessential French fare, it is buzzing with activity, a common sight for anything that is new to the city. The beautifully decorated space includes an outdoor patio that you’ll be seduced by because of its warm and friendly atmosphere.
The broad breakfast menu is filled with a delightful selection of flaky pastries and perfectly cooked eggs with homemade hollandaise sauce. Our top pick is the buttery, creamy scrambled eggs, topped with a generous shaving of black truffle-an indulgent and delicious meal that will set you up for the day. The other favourite is the poached eggs served on a bed of potato rosti and steamed spinach. This is not just filling, but also nourishing and full of flavour.
With eyes bigger than our stomachs we went ahead and ordered the caramelised pain perdu (translate as “lost bread”) – a type of French toast made with milk and eggs and fried in butter. Accompanied with freshly brewed coffee, it is utterly moreish.
