THIS LEGENDARY FRENCH-VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT FROM NEW YORK IS NOW IN DUBAI

Indochine is now in DIFC.

If you haven’t heard already, New York’s legendary restaurant, Indochine is now open in Dubai’s DIFC. Indochine, the French-Vietnamese New York haunt has been a celebrity hotspot for more than three decades since opening its doors in 1984; and lucky for us, Dubai is its first location outside of New York.

The cozy setting echoes that nostalgic old-school charm. The lush greenery, tropical decor, iconic ‘Martinique’ wallpaper, wicker chairs and traditional lighting conjures a vision of a by-gone era.

The menu is unpretentious and offers classic Vietnamese dishes with hints of French influences.

We started with a classic beef and green papaya salad-seared wagyu flank, green papaya, viet herbs, crispy garlic topped with a citrus yuzu dressing. The crispy fried imperial rolls were one of our favourites-shrimp and chicken, carrot, shiitake mushrooms, glass noodles, water chestnut that we dipped into a light fish sauce for that extra zing.

The signature Indochine dish, Vietnamese ravioli has to be tried-it is a delicate dish made with rice noodles, chicken, shrimp and Shiitake mushrooms that we dipped in a creamy peanut sauce.

One of the most popular streetfoods, betel lead beef is on their menu and although it may not be your first choice, you can’t leave without trying this aromatic and earthy plate.

Shaking beef made with black angus tenderloin, arugula purée, endive, semi-dried tomatoes, white soy ginger dressing, pickled shallots, lime is a robust plate of rich flavors.

Another standout is the Amok Cambodgien-steamed sea bream in banana leaf, coconut lemongrass custard, chili sauce, scallions and ginger.

Do leave space for dessert because there are some very tempting options. The matcha and coconut tart is ideal to end the meal and it pairs perfectly with a cup of strong. Vietnamese coffee

Indochine pay tribute to tradition and offers unique flavors and unconventional techniques.
