Where to go for the best Turkish food in Dubai.
The Westin Mina Seyahi is a culinary destination that we love. Their latest dining addition is Baba Grill, a Turkish Steakhouse that we were recently invited to review.
The open kitchen and cozy indoor seating is ideal for the warmer days while the spacious outdoor terrace is perfect for these cooler winter months.
The menu features all our Turkish favorites including a delightful array of mezze, grills and steaks. Like most traditional Turkish venues, we started by picking from a colorful array of cold starters brought out on a tray for us to pick. We chose a few of our favorites including muhammara, and a traditional yogurt with garlic.
We ordered the octopus served with grilled beetroot and yogurt-a unique and refreshing dish we thoroughly enjoyed.
If you can’t resist tartare, then their version is a must-try. The wagyu beef is topped with an egg yolk and mixed with shallots and capers.
The village tomato salad with, onion, capsicum, walnuts, pomegranate sauce was a hearty portion but we were quick to wipe it clean with the hot bread.
Both our mains were absolute showstoppers.
Steaks are also a main feature at the restaurant and our order of the Sirloin with a side of Baba fries truly hit the right spot. The best part about ordering a steak here is that you get to pick from a collection of the finest knives from around the world. They will also bring a selection of different salts (pink, black etc) to sprinkle on the meat.
Of course, we weren’t going to leave without trying their signature Kebabs. After much deliberation, we picked the adana kebab marinated in spices and then served on a bed of flatbread, onions and a long green chili. This dish was outstanding!
Do leave space for dessert as the traditional Turkish sweets are always a hit. We skipped baklava and decided to go for the lesser known but just as indulgent phyllo pastry filled with pistachios and clotted cream topped with ice cream. An absolute treat, it was the best way to end a fabulous meal.
