FALCONE is an all-day pizzeria Napoletana serving pizza, handcrafted pasta, and traditional, freshly churned gelato.
Situated in the heart of Al Barsha, Falcone is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood, an all-day eatery that feels laid-back yet polished. A perennial hotspot since opening, it draws a steady crowd throughout the day.
Beautifully decorated with chic Art Deco touches, the space feels charming and cosy. The terrace looks lovely and is perfect for the cooler winter months.
Championing rustic, homestyle Italian cooking, the menu is pared-back but delectable. Think big, juicy braised meatballs served with tomatoes and Parmesan. We started with the exceptionally good Mixed Green Salad with oregano vinaigrette, chickpeas, cherry tomatoes and provolone.
The Calabrian Oven-Roasted Prawns, cooked in Calabrian chilli butter, were simply delicious. We ended up scooping up every last bit of the sauce with our leftover pizza crust.
The star of the show is, of course, the pizza. Chef Roberta is ranked number 85 among the world’s best pizza chefs and brings her signature neo-Neapolitan style straight from her hometown of Naples, the birthplace of pizza. Each pizza is made fresh to order and wood-fired in custom Pavesi ovens. Depending on your mood, there’s a mix of classics and speciality flavours to choose from. Our personal favourite is the intensely flavoured Sausage & Mushroom, topped with juicy beef sausage, mixed mushrooms, fior di latte, scamorza and red onion.
The generously portioned Lasagna Bolognese is rich, creamy and one of the best we’ve ever had. The layers of meat, sauce and cheese come in just the right proportions, and we wiped the dish clean. Don’t leave without trying it.
Save room for dessert: the decadently creamy tiramisu is served tableside and has just the right balance of sweet and bitter. It’s one we’d happily order again.
Falcone is just as good for a special occasion as it is for a casual Sunday night dinner. Fantastic food and excellent service.
