Bait Maryam is an affordable restaurant with good vibes serving Middle Eastern food in JLT.
We discovered Bait Maryam on social media and were eager to try it out. Located in JLT, it is one of the coziest spots we have ever visited in the city. Once you open the door, you step into a living room like setting, complete with couches and little details including a vintage sewing machine.
Once comfortably seated we were handed the menus with a glass of rose water each. A few minutes later, Chef Maryam came and introduced herself to us. A lovely lady, she spoke passionately about the food, vision and overall concept. The conversation with her left us eager to try all the dishes she recommended.
The menu consists of Middle Eastern dishes and there is a variety of traditional dishes including shish tawouk and arayes. We started with a delicious Fattet Mousakan Maryam (33 AED), tender chicken cooked in sumac and onions and served with a layer of yogurt.
We also tried the Alayet Banadoura (23 AED), served in a pan it was a base of flavourful tomato sauce served with meat. The Maryam Fukhara (34 AED) was kibbeh cooked in a thick tamarind sauce-an interesting combination that we had never tired before. Our favourite was the kafta in tahini sauce (42 AED), that we scooped up with the pita bread straight from the oven.
You can’t go wrong with anything you order at Bait Maryam, it is the place to enjoy homemade food made with love.
