One of Dubai’s oldest cafeterias located in the heart of Jumeirah.
If you’ve seen Dubai’s first indie film City of Life, you will already be familiar with Al Ijaza. The café featured in the movie also happens to be one of Dubai’s oldest joints, famous for serving up quick snacks and iconic fresh fruit juices.
So why is it special? Well firstly, it’s a drive-through experience. If you’re struggling with the heat like we are, there’s no need to get out your car. A server will come to you and bring a menu – packed with plenty of tempting choices – and will bring your order back to your car when it’s ready.
The juices are delicious too, with three sizes available – Small (6 AED), Medium (8 AED), and Large (10 AED). There’s also a long list of heavier shakes, with quirky names like Twitter and Facebook – but with no ingredients description beside them, we found them difficult to order.
Now we’ve discovered the café, we will be heading back regularly for refreshing pit-stops – especially on the hottest days when we need to quench our thirst.
