AN INDIAN STYLE IFTAR WORTH TRYING

Mahec at Le Meridien Garhoud is a cozy and chic spot that offers a lot of ambiance and is serving an Indian Iftar throughout Ramadan in Dubai.

Ramadan in Dubai is often synonymous for big buffets with equally big crowds. Although this all-you-can-eat factor appeals to many, others continue to search for great restaurants that are a bit more intimate and quiet.

We’ve had the pleasure of sampling the five-course Iftar buffet at Mahec, Le Meridien Garhoud’s Indian restaurant which offers a variety of traditional favorites as well unique dishes that we have not had the chance to try yet.

We started off with special Ramadan juices including apricot and date (also known as jalab in Arabic), as well as rose milk, which was the most delicious and actually very light on the stomach after a day of fasting.

Although the Chicken Tikka Masala and Daal with Naan are still our favorites (hands down), we very much enjoyed trying new dishes such as the Fish Paneer and the selection of flavorful meatless dishes such as grilled and seasoned eggplant and fried vegetables.

After enjoying a mouthwatering meal, we sampled the dessert selection, which also did not disappoint. We recommend Gulab Jamun if you are in the mood for something sweet. It’s a very popular Indian dessert of fried dumpling in rose scented syrup. The Bombay Pudding was also a bit hit as it was very simple yet satisfying.

The Mahec Iftar price per person is AED 139 (inclusive of juices and soft drinks. The restaurant also has a nice outdoor garden area which is perfect for an after-meal sheesha.
