If you are tired of the usual breakfast hotspots around town, head over to Barsha Mall and give the trendy Emirati cafe, Klayya a try. Bright, intimate and decorated in a trendy Arabesque style, Klayya serves an extensive breakfast menu offering all kinds of typical Emirati dishes, including a date omelette and popular drinks such as Karak: a sweet, spiced tea.
On our visit there, we chose Chebab from the numerous ‘bread and spread options’ available. Our Chebab, a kind of Emirati pancake, was served with Dibbs – a date dip (6 AED). The combination of flavors was exquisite and used dates sourced from a farm in Ras Al Khaimah. To drink, we ordered the house blend of coffee: Gahwah (6 AED). Strong and tasty, this Emirati coffee proved to be the perfect accompaniment to our light meal.
Klayya’s staff are attentive and its food presentation impressive. Locally-made boxes and platters are used as serving dishes. We look forward to whiling away many more relaxed weekend mornings here.
