Moroccan cities can get uncomfortably hot in the summer months, but the higher altitude of Tigmi’s location offers a much more comfortable heat.
Tigmi is just half an hour’s drive from Marrekech, but it feels like a world away. The boutique hotel is based on the outskirts of a traditional Moroccan Berber village – and as you wind along the bumpy road to reach it, you’ll pass locals on donkey carts and children playing in the fierce red dust.
A cup of refreshing mint tea awaits your arrival – after which, you’ll be shown around the small, but utterly charming hotel and grounds. Think terracotta walls baked in the warm Moroccan sunshine, authentically-furnished rooms lit by lanterns, and sun terraces strewn with cushions in the brightest, paint-box shades. The vibe is quiet, private, and hugely relaxing.
Days can be spent lazing around the invitingly-blue pool and enjoying Tigmi’s light, but delicious lunches.
