Moroccan cities can get uncomfortably hot in the summer months, but the higher altitude of Tigmi’s location offers a much more comfortable heat.
Tigmi is just half an hour’s drive from Marrekech, but it feels like a world away. The boutique hotel is based on the outskirts of a traditional Moroccan Berber village – and as you wind along the bumpy road to reach it, you’ll pass locals on donkey carts and children playing in the fierce red dust.
A cup of refreshing mint tea awaits your arrival – after which, you’ll be shown around the small, but utterly charming hotel and grounds. Think terracotta walls baked in the warm Moroccan sunshine, authentically-furnished rooms lit by lanterns, and sun terraces strewn with cushions in the brightest, paint-box shades. The vibe is quiet, private, and hugely relaxing.
Days can be spent lazing around the invitingly-blue pool and enjoying Tigmi’s light, but delicious lunches. Or – if you are feeling more energetic – the hotel will arrange for a driver to take you into Marrakech so you can barter for butter-soft leather slippers and bags of fragrant spices, or head to the spectacular gardens of Jardin Majorelle, owned previously by Yves Saint Laurent.
On your return to Tigmi, you can look forward to a feast of authentic Moroccan cuisine by flickering candlelight. This is the stuff that holidays were made for…Tigmi Boutique Hotel Tel: +212 (0) 524 48 40 20 email: firstname.lastname@example.org www.tigmi.com
