Khan Murjan is an open courtyard restaurant serving authentic Arabic cuisine and is located inside Wafi Mall.
The unique setting of Khan Murjan in Wafi Mall will take you by complete surprise. The entrance is hidden away in a dark winding basement full of souvenir shops, so we were delighted to wander into the restaurant and discover an open courtyard with outdoor seating only.
The menu offers a selection of delicious Lebanese, Moroccan, Turkish, Irani, and Gulf cuisine – so we played it safe by ordered a mixture of items.
As an appetizer, Teshkiet Al Salhieh (36 AED) is refreshing and satisfying. The cool yoghurt and chickpeas work perfectly with the strong flavour of garlic and tahini, served with crunchy pinenuts and toasted bread.
For your main, we recommend the Riyaash Al Khan (76 AED) – a house favourite that consists of tender, succulent lamb chops marinated in a delicious secret sauce. The Baghleh Poulough (78 AED) is also worth ordering – flavourful chicken cubes served with rice and fava beans.
For dessert, we opted for the Ummo Ali (31 AED) and Konafa (32 AED) followed by mint tea (18 AED) – the perfect way to digest such a filling dinner.
The food is tasty and the menu is wide, but the real pull of this place is the exquisite charm of the setting. With the stars shining above and mellow live instrumental music filling the air, Khan Murjan is ideal for a romantic dinner or for treating out-of-town visitors to a traditional meal in a unique and memorable setting. It’s hard to beat on cooler evenings for a bite to eat – and the mall feels like a million miles away…
