Are you a meat lover? If so, then there is nothing quite as satisfying as enjoying a lazy Friday afternoon surrounded by beautifully prepared rare cuts of meat, freshly made salads and a DJ playing the music of your choice.
Porterhouse is a modern chophouse located at Sofitel The Palm that serves globally inspired fare. Indoors the décor is sedate but the outdoor terrace has a more relaxed, holiday-like vibe and overlooks the palm trees and the swimming pool.
The Rare Brunch, every Friday, is a family-style experience, where you are served at the table, as if in the comfort of your own home.
The menu doesn’t really deviate from the usual steakhouse formula, and the freshly baked garlic herb bread, an assortment of homemade mustards and vegetable crudités, dips and highly addictive (don’t say we didn’t warn you!) homemade potato chips are the first to arrive.
For the steak-averse, the next course is ideal. Start with a crunchy Belgium endive salad and traditional Caesar, beef tartare, Spanish smoked beef loin and a chicken liver parfait before moving on to the hot starters.
The Turkish meat pizza called lamachun arrives piping hot along with beef sausages in pastry and prune wrap with bacon.
The last course is the showstopper and worthy of praise. A medley of explosively flavoured grill and rotisserie it includes char-grilled tenderloin and striploin, crispy chicken thighs, slow cooked lamb leg served with accompaniments (roasted potatoes, corn on the cob, stuffed jalapenos with cheese and a variety of sauces).
For dessert, try the warm deep-dish apple pie, selection of tarts or then request for the gluten-free option of panna cotta.
Porterhouse is truly a venue for meat-loving goodness and with so much to choose from that the indecisive carnivore in you might have a difficult time, picking their ultimate favourite dish.
Last but not least, after the brunch, guests are offered access to the pool and beach- a massive added bonus to simply chill out and relax. We love it!
