DINE ON MOUTH-WATERING MEDITERRANEAN FOOD CREEKSIDE
As a big fan of Mediterranen food, I can honestly say that it’s usually hit or miss when it comes to finding and choosing a place in Dubai that offers this rich and diverse cuisine. I have come across casual spots off the beaten track that offer great authentic dishes, while I have also tried restaurants on the pricier end that are just too modern and fusion for my taste.
Skafos, located at the Canopy By Hilton hotel in Dubai’s Al Seef area, offers the best of both worlds, in a modern and chic space. The restaurant, located on an open-air terrace, offers stunning views of the bustling Dubai Creek and the perfect outdoor setting for guests that want to sit back, relax and watch the world go by.
A chance to try something new
For dinner, I would highly recommend that you order the assortment of appetizers as there is literally something for everyone. I highly recommend the watermelon and feta and burrata salads, which are among the most popular appetizers on the menu.
For the main sources, I ordered my usual seafood favourite – seared seabass, however I was impressed at the number of authentic dishes on the menu, such as the seafood paella, tomato pesto moussaka and lamb keftedes that the chef has actually managed to improve on. What made these dishes really stand out is the taste factor. From the first bite, you are introduced to so many mouth-watering flavors as the dishes are made from only the freshest locally sourced ingredients.
Save room for dessert
The dessert menu is not something I usually ask for after dinner, but after reading the unique options at Skafos, I had to try them for myself. The Creme Catalana, a Spanish creme brulet type dish made with saffron, was out of this world, while the Earl Grey flavored sorbet was certainly refreshing.
Amidst the stunning creekside-views, relaxing atmosphere, and exceptional food, my visit to Skafos was almost like a short holiday – a feeling very much needed when most of us are not travelling.
 Overall, this is one of the best Mediterranean places in Dubai and I would not hesitate to come back as it’s the perfect spot for sundowners or a meal with friends.
