We can never resist hot bread straight out of the oven-so of course we were delighted to find Quraishi Bakery, a quaint shop located discreetly in Jumeirah baking (and home delivering) a variety of fresh delicious ‘naans’-the South Asian version of a flat bread.
Naans come in different varieties-stuffed, plain or even lathered with oil for that little extra goodness. Ever since we discovered this gem we keeping going back for more and watch in fascination as the cook expertly pulls out the piping hot bread with a long stick from the underground stone oven (tandoor) that has a roaring fire inside.
The potato filled naan is best eaten with a dallop of yogurt to cool off the extra heat from the spices, and the plain naan can be enjoyed with gravy or any dip you may fancy.
