Lime Tree Café & Kitchen one of the first coffee shop of its kind in Dubai carries a range of handmade tableware worth checking
For those of you who have been in Dubai for long, the Lime Tree Café & Kitchen is a well-known place – it was indeed one of the first coffee and take-away shops outside a mall back in 2001. Years have gone by and the Lime Tree Café & Kitchen still remains a low-key profile brand. Even though they have grown to three branches, it has remained a small and neighborhood coffee with emphasis on baking their own food based on fresh vegetables, grains and nuts & seeds and takeaway salads.
Although we love this place, it is the retail section that caught our attention. Set up in the corner of the coffee shop, they sell a selection of handmade jams and chutneys and high quality tableware.
Check out their woven tablecloth, handcrafted blankets made with natural material, bamboo boards, picnic rugs and aprons. It is an eclectic collection of distinctive pieces.
For kitchen items they carry Wonky Ware, a pottery studio from South Africa that employs skilled staff members from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Their range of ceramics are sold worldwide and Lime Tree Café & Kitchen is one of the only places where you can find their products in Dubai. All unique (they are all individually handmade so each item is different) they are affordable with simple designs. We particularly like their oval serving platters, bowls and jugs. Albeit very decorative, the products are also dishwasher, microwave and oven-proof.
