Located approximately 45 minutes away from Dubai Marina, lies the most magical desert dining destination, Sonara Camp. It is more than just a spot for dinner, guests can arrive as early as 4 pm to enjoy the facilities and the gorgeous sunset. There is even  a setup for those who prefer to stay overnight, so if you are in the mood for ‘Glamping’ this is the place to book.
You simply follow Google Maps which will take you to the main gates (we reached without any glitches or detours). Once there, the concierge will arrange an SUV or even a camel for you to get to the camp. While the SUV takes about 6 minutes, the camel ride is about an hour.
At the camp entrance, you will be greeted with a refreshing mint lemonade, water and a cold towel. Overlooking the restaurant on a sand dune is the lounge bar where you can enjoy a sundowner or nightcap alongside dinner. There is majlis style floor seating where you can relax with a hot or cold beverage, play board games or simply relax while enjoying freshly baked pizzas, guac and nachos.
There are a host of activities and entertainment for all ages, with everything from live music and light shows to falconry and an Astronomer, alongside a cinema area where you can relax with an after dinner movie with popcorn and a cocktail. Do try the sandboarding which takes a little bit of getting used to but is a lot of fun. You can also take a camel ride around the camp. Once the sun goes down, dinner is ready and guests are welcome to head to the dining area at their leisure.
The one-of-a-kind desert dining destination offers a delicious culinary sharing experience, designed and prepared by a world class chef, showcasing Arabic-inspired dishes, East meets West fusion food and classic French cuisine. Guests will indulge in the freshest of seasonal ingredients for every taste, from the meat lovers to the vegans. We adored the crunchy nicoise fattoush salad. Other highlights included a delicately cooked hammour, beef tacos and the most juicy lamb chops you can imagine.
Nestled in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, which is home of hundreds of oryxes and gazelles. The camp has been designed to provide an eco-friendly and sustainable experience at the core of its ethos – sourcing ethical products and materials, adopting a zero-waste policy and with the use solar energy.

Price per person is AED860 for adults and AED380 for children which includes food and non-alcoholic beverages (a fine selection alcoholic beverages available to purchase separately) with pick up from the desert meeting point by camel or SUV.   A private chauffeur service from guests’ home is also available.
