Lapita is a Polynesian themed resort next to Dubai parks and has a real holiday feel to it the minute you step out of the car – imagine alohas from the staff in Hawaiian-esque shirts and lei garlands on arrival.

Rooms are modern with Polynesian elements like bamboo framed mirrors and table legs to floral furnishings throughout. Laid out in the room was a hula grass skirt, a mask and a lei garland for the little one letting her be Moana for the weekend.

Food options include five different dining venues. Our favourite was Hikina, a pan Asian hot pot and dumpling house, where you can choose your ingredients at the vegetable and noodle ‘market’ and then cook them in your very own pot in the centre of your table.

Outdoor there is lots of plush greenery to walk around in as well as three pools and a small splash park.

The kids club is suitable for children up to teenagers, with age appropriate activities for all. Including Hula dancing as well as arts and crafts and computer games.

Parents can have some grown-up time at Ola Spa. We tried the Lomi Lomi massage, a traditional Polynesian massage that soothes with long strokes to promote harmony.

This resort suits families looking for a short staycation within the UAE.
