THE EATERY SERVING NORTHWEST ITALIAN DISHES

As huge fans of authentic Italian cuisine, we were quick to plan lunch at the newly opened Nais in Jumeirah Lake Towers.   Run by Italians, the eatery has a contemporary, trendy décor with slate floors and exposed ceilings overlooking the kitchen.

The first dish we ordered was Farinata with Gorgonzola Cheese – thick warm chickpea crepes from Italy’s northwest coast that we haven’t seen in Dubai before. Although it was pricey (55 AED), we thoroughly enjoyed the soft, comforting texture of the crepes.

The restaurant has new “specials” menu everyday – and we chose a warm octopus dish, served with cherry tomatoes, olives, capers and polenta.   The fresh ingredients tossed in an olive oil dressing were light and refreshing – perfect for the hot summer day when we dined. Their lasagne was quite interesting – light and flavourful, but hardly meaty.

Among the desserts, their tiramisu (30 AED) is a must try and probably one of the best we’ve had in Dubai.

The prices might be high at Nais Italian Kitchen, but it’s definitely worth a visit. To date, it’s probably the most authentic Italian restaurant we’ve discovered in the JLT area, with easy access for those living in the Marina.
