As our team got more curious about this latest revolutionary injectable treatment, I quickly booked in a session with Dr Disha Dinakar to see if this treatment is worth the hype. As someone who is keen on improving the overall quality of my skin and making it look healthy and hydrated versus changing my appearance with a more defined jawline or fuller lips, this was ideal for me. Just remember this buzzy injectable won’t give you a facelift!
Dr Disha explained that Polynucleotides are biostimulators that work on a cellular level and are derived from fish DNA. When  injected into the skin, they stimulate your own cells and start to produce collagen and elastin making it more healthy and bouncy. The antioxidant properties in it help with pigmentation. Polynucleotides can be injected into the face and neck and is one of the most-loved treatment for dark circles.
Dr Disha heard all my skincare concerns and because I am forever irked by the pigmentation on my face, she proposed making a cocktail of boosters for me and also use the dermapen to further enhance the results. The first order of business was applying a numbing cream all over the face-this was something I am thankful for as my pain threshold is low, and I barely felt the needle all thanks to the power of this anaesthetic cream.
Apart from the Salmon DNA she mixed in peptides, hyaluronic acid and other brightening ingredients including tranexamic acid, glutathione, niacinamide, and vitamin C. The injection was almost painless and I just felt a light prick, the dermapen that she used was also very bearable.
The treatment took 30 minutes total, including the application of a cooling mask which helped calm the redness. Once done Dr Disha lathered my in sunblock and sent me off with a few basic instructions for the after care. I was not to use makeup that day and in another 24 hours I could go back to my usual skincare regime. She warned me of some redness that might occur-but it didn’t!
Over the course of the next few days and then weeks, the subtle results have been showing. I find myself barely using concealer to cover the pigmentation and the little makeup that I do use no longer creases like it used to. My skin feels vibrant and glowy and I have been getting complements on my even complexion. The results of polynucleotide treatments last an average of around six months, and then you can go back in for a maintenance session.
