Originally from NYC, Junoon is a contemporary Indian restaurant in Dubai located at the Shangri-la Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road.
Serving modern Indian cuisine from across the country, the restaurant offers a diverse menu and features different styles of cooking.
This Ramadan, Junoon offers a set menu priced at 225 AED per person. The culinary feast began with nuts, dates and a refreshing melon salad along with a sweet sherbet.
The next course was an assortment of casual bites with a modern twist-pakoras with mango, lotus and pineapple, bhalla papdi chaat and squid pepper fry.
The Hyderabadi gosht seekh and broccoli channe shami kebabs with an assortment of chutneys and yogurt are flavorful and tasty and we quite enjoyed them.
Although we were beginning to get full there was a lavish spread of dishes yet to come to our table. The mains included chicken with coconut, shrimp with tomato, shitake mushrooms with Indian spices, paneer with curry leaf and a lamb biryani. The dishes are served with piping hot naan and other breads, that are very hard to resist.
The grand meal ended on a high note with a decadent umali made with rose milk, puff pastry and cream and a falooda served inside a chocolate matka and almond sherbet.
