Kairos is a culture space built around coffee.
Located in Al Quoz, Kairos is not just another aesthetic cafe serving on-trend drinks. Everything about this zen-like space has been deliberately planned, drawing on the Wabi-Sabi philosophy to create a wholesome setting where coffee, conversation and craftsmanship become the focus.
The aroma of coffee hits as soon as we walk in, but our attention turns to the Bellwether Shop Roaster, visible behind the white glass. A first in the UAE, the electric, zero-emission machine roasts the beans on-site. The beans are roasted on-site and move from roast to grind to brew within days, resulting in a seriously fresh cup of coffee.
The double-height warehouse-style space is bright and airy, with plenty of natural light and minimal décor. At its centre sits the Coffee Assembly, a two-metre circular communal table hand-carved from a single block of stone brought over from India by Surat-based SHED Studio.
At the Coffee Assembly table, coffee becomes something of a ritual. While the Flat White hits the spot, the V60 pour-over is worth slowing down for, prepared with a choice of single-origin beans. A different pour is also brewed throughout the day for anyone at the table to try.
Everything at Kairos is made on-site from scratch including the pastries laminated and baked fresh each morning. There is a selection of sweet treats to pick from the signature Twice-Baked Cashew Nut is sent back into the oven until the edges turn brittle and dark, the inside still soft enough to pull apart. The buttery croissants are an absolute highlight, while the moist, nutty banana bread is well worth the extra calories.
Breakfast covers everything from açai and granola bowls to French toast. For something more substantial, the Kairos Breakfast comes with scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, bacon and a mixed green salad, a protein-packed plate that will keep you going well into the day.
Beyond the wholesome food and coffee, a rotating calendar of events gives us the perfect excuse to keep coming back.
