A Normal Day is a daytime dining cafe located in Dar Wasl.
Dar Wasl is always our go-to when it comes to discovering homegrown dining concepts, and A Normal Day is one we’ve been hearing a lot about. Designed to feel like home, the space is cozy and inviting with an artsy touch.
The all-day breakfast menu has some really tempting dishes—from the Truffle Scramble to the Breakfast Bun—we wanted to try them all. However, since we had already had our share of eggs earlier in the day, we went straight for the lunch menu.
The sharing plates section offers a variety of unique options, including Date Bonbons and Labneh with Honeycomb. We tried the Sweet Pepper & Leeks Hummus, which was anything but ordinary. The delicately braised leeks were naturally sweet and paired perfectly with the creamy hummus, which we scooped up with the za’atar pita bread.
The Cured Salmon plate served with sourdough was a refreshing and light combination of flavours. The tangy labneh and kimchi cucumber gave it a delightful kick and we quickly wiped the plate clean.
For the mains, the Chicken Meal featured juicy, tender baby chicken served on a bed of morel mushroom sauce and mashed potatoes. We paired it with a side of green beans topped with miso and crispy onions. This wholesome combination was bursting with flavour— the perfect dish when you are craving delicious homemade food.
We ended the meal with the perfect cup of Flat White coffee and delightful bites of Chocolate Truffle, made with dark chocolate ganache and topped with berries, truffle, and Maldon salt.
