Dubai summer can really take a toll on the skin and although we try and do as much as we can at home there is nothing like heading over to a spa for some serious body (and mind) cleansing. The Beldi Black Soap Hammam Ritual offered at Cinq Mondes Spa is the most luxe way to not only re-energize the mind but also come out really, really clean. This is not a public bath, instead you have your own private chamber, giving you the chance to really switch off and completely relax.
The treatment begins by spending 10 minutes inside the marble clad steam room-which is thankfully extremely spacious. You can spend your time pacing up and down or then lying down on the marble slab and closing your eyes for a few minutes.
Once inside the private room your body is scrubbed with the beldi soap and the traditional kessa mitt. It is vigorous but it just takes a few minutes for you to get fully used to it. Between the scrubbing and the washing, we found ourselves drifting in and out of sleep. When the soap was completely washed off, we had a mask applied to the entire body and while that settled in, we got the most relaxing head and face massage.
The mask is thoroughly washed off in about another 15 minutes and within 50 minutes we done with the entire treatment. You must not rush out, instead head over to the relaxation room where you can enjoy some herbal tea and light snacks.
