TAKE PART IN THE ANNUAL CAR FREE DAY IN DUBAI

Car Free Day in Dubai

The annual car free day in Dubai will take place on 5th February 2017.

Every year we look forward to the annual Car Free Day that has been taking place in Dubai on a regular basis since 2010.  This year it has been scheduled for on February 5th, 2017 and all motorists are being urged to leave their cars at home. Dubai Municipality organises this global initiative as a way to not only reduce the carbon footprint but also commemorate the United Arab Emirates’s (UAE) National Environment Day.

If you are one of those who can’t image life without the car, this initiative is a good way to try and explore other alternative travel methods. In a city that has a state-of-the-art Metro system and of course the Tram , there is really no excuse to not try them out.

We personally love the Byky stands dotted all around the city-a fun way to travel and get some exercise also. For more details click here.

Oh, and if you already considering switching to biking regularly , we have discovered The Movement, a local, independent cyclery specialising in urban bicycles with a classic design that serve a functional and aesthetic purpose. Located at The Courtyard in Al Quoz opposite Al Serkal they also sell the trendy Linus Californian bikes (priced between 2000 and 3000 AED). A bit pricey but worth the investment if you are serious about biking. They also have a great range of accessories including helmets and baskets-the first of their kind in Dubai.

All Dubai residents interested in taking part on Car Free Day can e-register on the municipal website (https://www.dm.gov.ae/). Alternatively you can send an email to carfeeday@dm.gov.ae for details.
