A nation-wide campaign called UAE Water Aid (UAE Suquia) has been launched to give more than five million people access to clean drinking water.
Launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and implemented by Red Crescent Group this latest humanitarian campaign is a worthy cause that vows to provide clean drinking water by digging wells in 10 developing countries that include Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Niger, Somalia, Ghana, Sudan, Indonesia, Togo, and Iraq.
The money collected will also help in installing tanks and pipelines in areas that don’t have any water availability. World Health Organization (WHO) statistics show that a child dies every 21 seconds from water-borne diseases and women spend 2.5 billion people lack access to improved sanitation.
The campaign is growing rapidly with some of the biggest firms and service providers in the country contributing and pledging generous amounts of money to it.
