A DRINK THAT FIGHTS CELLULITE AND IS MORE HYDRATING THAN WATER

Have you ever tried Coconut Water? Unlike Coconut Milk, which is drunk throughout the world, few people beyond South America and Southeast Asia seem to have tasted it. The Water comes from younger, green fruits – and is both deliciously refreshing and packed with health benefits.

Particularly recommended in hot countries like the UAE, Coconut Water is one of the most hydrating things we can drink – even more so than regular water. The benefits come from its electrolyte composition, which is similar to human plasma – in fact, during the Pacific War between 1941 and 1945, it was used to make a plasma transfusion to the injured. The drink is now widely consumed by sports men and women to keep hydration levels topped up while they are training or competing.

Coconut Water contains calcium, sodium and phosphorous, and is fat, sugar and cholesterol free. It’s also very high in potassium – a 330ml serving of pure coconut water contains more potassium than two bananas. Getting potassium into the body reduces water retention, opens cell receptors, and helps with their communication – making it an excellent tool in the fight against cellulite. Staying hydrated also keeps you feeling fuller for longer, hence reducing hunger pangs and sugar cravings.

One word of warning though – be careful where you buy it, as there can be a huge price difference. A 150 cl bottle costs 15 AED in Milk and Honey on the Palm but it costs 6.95 AED in Choitrams when you buy the whole green coconut.
