Escape to Six Senses Zighy Bay Resort located on the northern Musandam Peninsula in the Sultanate of Oman.
We were invited to experience Six Senses Zighy Bay resort. This indigenous village-style resort has a very unique setting as it is nestled between rugged mountains and a sandy beach facing the Gulf of Oman.
Expect to be amazed and pampered from the moment you drive in or then paraglide (yes, you can choose to land with a professional paraglider from the top of the Zighy Mountain).
Made up of cobblestone buildings, you can pick from 1, 2 or 4 bedrooms suites and villas. The airy and comfortable living space includes free Wi-Fi, flat-screens and espresso machines, plus daybeds, private infinity pools, outdoor showers and terraces. Some also boast spa treatment rooms and/or beach views.
The rooms are rustic yet comfortable and there is a sense of coziness about them-we loved the pool and outdoor seating shaded by the date and neem trees surrounding the property. There is a 24-hours butler service available and overall the staff is attentive, friendly and hospitable.
There are also two public pools including one that is the only salt-water pool in the entire GCC. The wellness spa is a relaxing refuge that offers massages, hammam and holistic treatments. A treatment or therapy there will leave you ready to take on the world.
The restaurants include a hilltop eatery serving international cuisine together with spectacular views. If you want something more private there is the in-villa dining that can also be arranged.
We adored the flavourful meals and the hearty breakfast spread. The food was always delicious and fresh-made with freshly caught fish and vegetables grown on the property.
Zighy Bay Resort is more than just a relaxing beach getaway, in fact the activities make it the ideal place for adventure-loving souls. Guests can choose from paragliding, mountain biking, hiking, snorkelling and scuba diving.
If you prefer something more low-key then the dhow cruise and fishing trips are definitely worth booking.
