OUR FIRST SNEAK PEEK AT GRAND HYATT ABU DHABI

The wait is over… Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi is now open and offers incredible views of iconic Abu Dhabi landmarks!

If you want to plan a staycation in the UAE, then this new property in the capital could be the one. These last few years, the hotel scene has been booming in downtown Abu Dhabi, especially around the Abu Dhabi West Corniche, close to Emirates Palace. Since the 1st of June 2018, there is a newcomer in the city: Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Residences Emirates Pearl, a 5-star new property located between Bab Al Qasr hotel and Jumeirah Etihad Towers.

We actually learned that Grand Hyatt usually opens one hotel per country or iconic city and the UAE now have two Grand Hyatt properties- one by the Dubai Creek and now this newly launched hotel in Abu Dhabi.

We were lucky enough to join a media tour shortly after the hotel opening and are delighted to share our sneak peek and first impressions about this new city hotel with our personal highlights.

The hotel architecture and design

If you pay attention to the hotel shape, you will easily notice that above the podium level, the hotel spins by one degree per floor, which makes an impressive total of 45 degrees from floor to top of the hotel.

The hotel feels both impressive with high ceilings, a huge lobby and very intimate at the same time – like a boutique hotel – as there is a wonderful art collection to discover all around the hotel.

This hotel will surely become a landmark to head to whenever you have family and friends visiting as it offers unbeatable and iconic views of both the city skyline and the iconic Emirates Palace, Presidential Palace, Jumeirah Etihad Towers and beyond.

A city hotel where you are welcome to spend time outdoors

What we probably fancied the most is the “in and out” feeling you get at this hotel. First of all, the apartments to rent – 60 full-service one and two bedrooms flats that seem to rent fast – and hotel rooms are all equipped with a private balcony offering great views and a welcoming light sea breeze to enjoy anytime of the year.

The six food and beverage outlets will come with a terrace. Your only concern will be about opting either for a view of the Corniche landmarks or the Al Bateen coastline with Al Hudariyat Bridge and island at the background.

We were impressed by the large 360-circular terrace at the fitness level where guests and residents will be welcome to book and enjoy outdoor activities from boot camps to sunset yoga sessions facing Emirates Place. Sounds like a plan!

The different restaurants

At the moment, there are two out of six restaurants open. We had a quick glance at VERSO, proposing Italian cuisine. With everything made in-house and priced very fairly – most dishes under 100AED charges included-we eyed the fresh homemade canollos and tiramisu that looked quite irresistible.

The restaurant decor has a lively and feel-good vibe, with aplenty colors. Outdoors, the terrace is overlooking the infinity pool. The designers came up with the lovely idea of having aromatic culinary herbs in large pots – mint, sage, oregano, basil, rosemary – that can be used for cooking.

 

 

For a sumptuous afternoon tea or a light treat, THE PEARL LOUNGE offers an elegant and relaxing venue, reflecting the region’s pearl centred heritage throughout the design, from the chandeliers to the intricate side tables. The large outdoor terrace facing the lounge is worth checking out at dawn!

Soon, the hotel will also offer different appealing food concepts:
– AISU will propose trendy Izakaya,
– BOVINE is a meat grill and SAHHA will be offering buffet.
– LEXX is a sophisticated wine bar and cigar lounge with extensive charcuterie and cheese offerings.
