HERE IS ANOTHER REASON TO MAKE A DAY TRIP TO ABU DHABI

Bait Al Oud is a musical institution dedicated to the preservation and teaching of Arabic musical heritage and its instruments.

Driving to Abu Dhabi and making a list of places to visit? We have another one for you to check out!

We just discovered a cultural center in downtown Abu Dhabi  (free access to the public) that allows us to learn more about the Oud instrument and more generally other Arabic instruments. Open every day of the week, from 10 am to 10 pm, visiting this center is free of charge and will allow you to learn all about the history of Oud.

Bait Al Oud Abu Dhabi was founded in 2012 by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi). This cultural center “plays an essential role in documenting masterpieces of Arab musical heritage in addition to restoring the role of music as a fundamental element in the cultural life of UAE’s nationals and residents.” It is also an innovative platform for the younger generations and a renowned center for Arabic music.

You will not only get to see the different oud instruments displayed throughout the center, but also learn how they are handcrafted, as this center teaches visitors the process of making oud instruments by hand.

If you are interested in learning how to play the oud, it is a fantastic place to visit as since its opening, Bait Al Oudfocuses on teaching Arabic music and instruments such as oud, qanoon and the Middle Eastern cello.

For more details please check their website that gives a deeper understanding about this traditional Arabic instrument.

Open daily from 10 am to 10 pm
