Based in JLT, Hanoi is a low-key restaurant with a long list of dishes at reasonable prices. Despite a language barrier with the staff  (we told you the place was authentic!), they do their best to recommend dishes if you need a little inspiration.

We started with Banh Xeo a fried pancake, stuffed with prawn and chicken and served with a tangy dipping sauce, followed by the noodle soup ‘Pho dac Biet’ known as the ‘Hanoi Special Broth’. It was a comforting dish, with dumplings, meat and white noodles – however, the floating intestines made it a little unappetizing for us, so we recommend doing your research before ordering!

For our main, we went for Bo Kho – a braised tender lemongrass beef stew, served in a clay pot with a side of French baguette.  Loaded with flavour, we thoroughly enjoyed the tender meat and perfectly cooked carrots and potatoes.

Hanoi is a clean, simple café worth trying for a no-fuss meal. And if you’re feeling adventurous, there are plenty of Vietnamese dishes that will satisfy your cravings.
