Head to Sal’s Sushi Bar for the most delectable sushi in Dubai.
We love exploring the different food concepts at Depachika Food Hall, a culinary theme park experience that takes you on a journey through a foodies’ paradise. On our most recent visit, we headed over to Sal’s Sushi Bar, by the Bassili family who are known for smoking salmon for over 35 years that they distribute across hotels and supermarkets across the region. We are also regulars at their local lakeside cafe, Sal’s Bistro.
Sal’s Sushi Bar is a casual concept where you can head to anytime of the day for the most high-quality and innovative sushi in town. Whether it’s just a quick bite to for lunch or a full family outing, you can sit at the Japanese-style bar and watch the chefs prepare your order using traditional techniques or then find a comfortable table to relax and enjoy the food.
We began with the hot miso soup with tofu, dried wakame and garnished with chives-it had a nice kick to it. The shrimp tempura was perfectly crispy and was served with a teriyaki sauce.
The salmon poke bowl is a must-try. Using the freshest salmon in Dubai, it was accompanied with avocado, seaweed, tempura crumbs, garnished with black sesame seeds and dressed with spicy Japanese mayo. This dish is enough to pull us in on a hectic weekday lunch break for a quick but filling meal.
The Sashimi section boasts the freshest cuts of fish including octopus, calamari and of course, salmon amongst other options. The shrimp and hamachi nigiri were another favorite on our table.
We also tried the selection of maki-from the flavorful dragon maki to the beetroot salmon kan maki these rolls are tightly packed with just the right amount of texture and flavor.
