Soon is Dubai’s answer to those bustling taverns across Japan.
Inspired by those Tokyo-raised spots, vibrant nobby yet true Izakaya Soon is located in JLT. Soon isn’t breaking the original code of genuine sake stay-in-drink and eat shops but is following a strip-and-build approach by delicately infusing the new age meanings focusing on mixology, music, and lighting design.
Channeling the rich heritage of the Japanese anime and cartoons, 1980’s aesthetics, gaming and karaoke culture, this Izakaya combines veritable Japanese cuisine with neoteric pop culture, making it the go-to spot for a relaxed evening out.
Chef Brian Hoang has also created the food menu for Soon paying homage to the 1980’s Japanese pop culture. The menu is an interpretation of the energetic Tokyo watering holes where work-weary locals go to eat, drink and escape real life.
We started with the spinach ohistashi salad topped with kombo jelly, sesame, and chili oil along with the lobster maki. The chicken katsu sandwich and the prawn gyoza are hearty and satisfying.
In the mains the black cod is served in a soup base of mushroom dash making it a light but filling final savory dish.
For those with a sweet tooth, the meal should end with the very creative Soon Cassette-nama mousse, miso caramel and adzuki bean brownie.
Soon has a laid-back vibe and relaxed ambiance-its the perfect spot to go with friends for a chilled out evening!
