Kai Enzo is a Japanese Mediterranean Rooftop Bar & Restaurant.
When it comes to any new dining concept by Chef Izu we are always first in line to try it out. So when we recently received news about Kai Enzo, a Japanese Mediterranean Rooftop Bar & Restaurant located in Jumeirah 1 and we headed there for an early dinner on Eid day.
The rooftop location means the views are amazing. One side overlooks the La Mer beach and the other provides unmatched views of the Dubai skyline. The glass ceiling gives the place a sense of openness and the bar at the centre of the room is dotted with fresh herbs and fruits-a feature that we love.
In Japanese culture, the word Kai is used to describe sea and more precisely the word “shell” and Enzo is a circle that is hand-drawn in one two uninhibited brushstrokes to express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create. By pairing these words together, we get a name that literally represents the moment of freedom one experiences when enjoying the treasures of the ocean.
The menu is neatly divided into snacks, sushi, starters and grills-there is a lot of options! We began with lobster rolls topped with caviar and served on a delicious soft milk bread. Next came the absolutely fantastic wagyu beef gyoza with chili paste. These two starters were enough for us to know that this place is going to be a firm favorite for us!
Next came the delicate sliced yellowtail topped with pomelo, chili and kombu oil. In the maki the crispy black cod maki won us over with its unique mix of crispy and crunchy.
In the mains we went ahead with the tiger prawns served with kimchi butter and green harissa-a blend of flavors that we didn’t imagine could work so well together.
The beef kushiyaki with garlic chips and truffle sauce was the final dish in our savory section and despite being so full we wiped the plate clean.
We couldn’t possibly think of dessert but then the waiter informed us about their homemade Nama chocolate and we just had to try it. The dark chocolate was just the right way to end this fabulous meal.
Kai Enzo offers a tranquil yet energizing dining experience and we can’t wait to come back to try more dishes on the menu.
