It would be rude not to start with the traditional French onion soup ”Fort des Halles”. This humble dish was the staple food for hungry workers back in the early 18th Century. Deeply rich and nourishing-it totally hit the spot.
The Duck foie gras terrine was served with apple and almond chutney and a side of brioche toast. The smooth texture of the foie gras paired perfectly with the slightly tart chutneys that helped enhance the taste without overpowering it-this is the ultimate gourmet treat!
Our order of six Burgundy snails was served in a classic cast iron dish and smothered in the most delicious mixture of herb and garlic butter. After we extracted the snails with a tiny fork from each shell, we tore the freshly baked baguette to mop up the sauce-and we didn’t care about the calories!
From the mains the Wagyu beef tenderloina that was not just a glorious dish to look at but also perfectly cooked to the chef’s recommendation of medium rare, garnished with broccoli and carrot and accompanied with a classic buttery béarnaise sauce.
After this savoury feast we did have to admit defeat and skip the final course of dessert. We were eyeing the decadent apple tart with salted butter caramel, vanilla chantilly and cinnamon. We will go back for that very soon!
