If you are looking for a relaxing evening before the start of a hectic week then “Live at Toko” is worth a try. Â Located at the Vida Hotel in Downtown Dubai, Toko is a contemporary Japanese restaurant from Down Under.
We were invited to experience this Saturday night special that is on for just the month of April. Â Toko Dubai has a relaxed atmosphere, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to pick from. Â Given that there is the live band, you want to be seated close to the stage, to really enjoy the music.
“Live at Toko” is a set menu, which we prefer, as we can focus on the music and the ambience as the different platters keep coming our way. Â The meal began with a simple bowl of edamame, followed by some delicious ceviche and sweet potato crisps. Â Next came an array of fresh sashimi and sushi-a hearty portion that we thoroughly enjoyed. Â Once we cleaned up the raw course, we were presented with hot prawn tempura, scallops and grilled avocado served with lime, salt and a lovely sauce. Â For the mains, we tried the black cod and the grilled beef. Â A filling meal, the dessert is fruit and sorbet along with a lovely chocolate cake.
The live music is engaging and soulful and the food hits all the right spots-albeit pricey it is definitely a good way to end the weekend on a high note.
