JB’s at the Amwaj Rotana is a gastropub serving classic dishes.
JB’s is a stylish and laid-back gastropub with a buzzing atmosphere. Don’t even think of heading there without a reservation on the weekend. We were invited on a Thursday night and the place was completely packed.
The décor is modern and comfortable-the ideal place to head with a big group of friends and enjoy some classic dishes with a twist. The menu is boasts hearty dishes that are intrinsic to that whole pub experience. If pork is what you are looking for then you can order the bbq pork ribs or even sausage by the metre.
We began with steamed Mediterranean mussels (90 AED) cooked in a delicious tomato, garlic and chilli sauce that we scooped up with some freshly baked homemade bread. Our small plate of grilled octopus (75 AED) was a refreshing medley of flavours including capers, peppers, garlic and topped with olive oil.
JB’s clearly understands that mac and cheese doesn’t just have to be for kids, and the adult version here is an absolute delight (50 AED). Rich, creamy and indulgent it hits just the right spot.
Of course no visit to a gastropub is complete without an order of fish n chips (85 AED). We wiped clean our order of the crispy beer battered cod served with hand-cut chips and mushy peas.
JB’s is a lively gastropub worth knowing about. The service is attentive, the food is on point and overall it has a wonderful vibe.
