Homely, edgy and with an urban feel, ZABEEL HOUSE by Jumeirah, THE GREENS is a welcome new addition in Dubai.

THE ATMOSPHERE

This new vibrant hotel opened its doors in early 2019 and is such a cool playground to visit as it instantly gives you a shot of feel-good vibes.

Stepping inside the hotel lobby, you immediately know you are in for some great surprises in terms of the decor and style. Sensitive to design and decor details, we instantly knew this is the kind of destination we would love. The lobby has a cozy feel with floor to ceiling shelves filled with awesome design and retro accessories, ranging from phones to coffee pots, ceramic rabbits, vases and many more. It is subtle, fun and well arranged.

The whole team at the hotel from the reception to the restaurants’ team are knowledgeable and friendly, making sure you instantly feel relaxed and welcome.

THE APARTMENT

Since we were staying at the hotel during the weekend with a kid below 12, we were booked in The Apartment, their largest room option. It is a super comfy flat divided into two rooms with a loft feel. Our little one had his own bed, sofa, TV and a fully equipped kitchen with the retro and glam SMEG fridge, coffee machine, cute black and white crockery, Scandinavian design furniture. Our little one kept asking if we could move there all year long!

The adult bedroom is separate, allowing privacy for everyone and has a fantastic black and white bathroom with a glass wall and an oval bath tub. The bathroom is equipped with matte black brassware that perfectly fits with the rectangular white wall ceramics and overall bedroom loft design. It gives an upscale, yet casual decor style which is high on design and very convenient to use.

There are a lot of details worth mentioning such as individual tablets allowing you to download for free any kind of magazines from around the world. No plastic water bottles but design glass jars instead filled with filtered water. Funky black and white cushions, huge artworks pairing well with the decor and giving the impression that you may be inside an artist’s flat.

THE OVERALL HOTEL DESIGN

We don’t want to spoil it for you, but we have to give credit to the designers for their creativity and attention to detail. The walls become artworks displaying many black-white frames and feel-good messages, especially on the fourth floor leading to the outdoor pool and Native Club (the gym area). Beauty lies in details sums up well the overall hotel atmosphere. Even the usually boring elevators will make you smile with their oversized message written on the mirrors.

THE FACILITIES

The outdoor pool also has a funky outlook with lounge sofas, cabanas, and individual hammocks replacing the usual lounge pool chairs. Don’t forget to bring your fitness outfit as the gym area is also well equipped with funky stations such as a boxing station like we had never seen before.

THE DINING SCENE

The hotel hosts two restaurants. SOCIAL COMPANY – where breakfast, lunch and dinner is served – is located on the ground floor and LAH LAH, a Pan Asian restaurant is on the fourth floor with tables and an outdoor lounge and shisha area facing the pool.

The greenery at SOCIAL COMPANY from floor to ceiling is awesome with a stylish setting. We had both breakfast and lunch there. The open breakfast buffet is well stocked with a mix of sweet and savory options. Guests can pick their choice of eggs  – the benedict eggs topped with fresh herbs was pretty nice looking  – and we especially enjoyed the homemade granola and indulged with warm pancakes.

On Saturdays, the Chef proposes his Saturday roast which is impressive and tastes great, but make sure you have an appetite as the portions are huge! We also tried the spicy calamari pakora which was a nice pick to share as an appetizer. Our vegan and vegetarian bowl prepared with falafel, cumin roasted cauliflower, fresh spinach leaves, and tahini was gorgeous. The grilled octopus served on a bed of avocado slices and purple mash potato is also a main we would recommend.

At dinner time, we visited LAH LAH and were quite surprised to see that all tables outdoors were fully packed and by 10 pm, many tables inside were also filled with groups of friends, so make sure to book your table ahead of your visit. There are a lot of options ranging from dim sum, dumpling, claypots, woks to try and shareable plates which make the dining experience casual and friendly. You got it, this new urban hotel had us hooked and the best news is its very fair pricing. So, definitely a treat we will allow ourselves to play and rest in Dubai from time to time.

The Apartment rates start at 520 AED per room (advance booking) to 650AED per night with breakfast included (taxes and fees excluded). The popular room (for two adults) start at 200AED per room and 350AED with breakfast included (taxes and fees excluded). 

Zabeel House has another hotel that opened in 2018 in Al Seef which has its own vibrant and different personality. Great new spots worth heading to and great value for money for your upcoming Dubai escapes!

Lastly, if you feel like visiting a water park, the hotel has a great deal proposing a visit to Wild Wadi for 75 AED only per person and has daily shuttles heading to this park.
