Cafe Milano at Expo 2020 is a great dining option at Expo 2020.
Serving contemporary Italian cuisine in a setting reminiscent of a stylish boutique, Cafe Milano’s only Dubai outpost is located at Expo 2020. The indoor seating feels intimate and inviting but we were drawn to cozy outdoor terrace given the lovely weather.
The menu boasts a wide variety of dishes neatly divided into the different courses. We began with Yellowfin tuna crudo served with citrus and Calabrian chili aioli. We enjoyed this light dish with their signature salad made with radicchio, Belgian endive, baby arugula, avocado and topped with a balsamic vinaigrette. Both dishes had refreshing flavors and we wiped the plates clean with the side of fresh sourdough.
Although the pizzas and pastas all looked very tempting and a lot of the tables around us were enjoying these dishes, we decided to skip them just this time around. Instead we picked wild alaskan halibut served on a bed of fava beans, green peas and chanterelle mushrooms. The different elements of this dish came together beautifully and we really enjoyed it.
The slow cooked wagyu beef cheeks was our other main. The meat melted in the mouth and the combination of gremolada, herbed mashed potatoes and crispy potatoes made it indulgent but well worth the calories.
Despite being highly satisfied and happily full, we weren’t going to leave without trying the classic panna cotta. Perfectly sweet and topped with fresh fruit, it is a must-try.
Cafe Milano is a great option if you don’t want to compromise on quality and taste when at Expo 2020. We personally can’t wait to be back to try the other dishes we eyed on the menu.
