The Parlor at Fortnum and Mason in Dubai offers a range of distinct ice cream flavors made with classic British recipes.
Fortnum and Mason is the venerable and acclaimed 300 years old London-based restaurant that offers a distinct dining experience, including The Parlor, an ice cream haven. Â Recently landed in Dubai, we were curious to find out what the fuss was all about. Â As true ice-cream lovers we long for the authentic parlors that are now dwindling in numbers because of the fro-yo craze that seems to be a global craze.
Directly overlooking the Burj Khalifa, there is an outdoor patio that is ideal for when the weather is cooler. Â Indoors the decor is of bygone era with a distinct 1950s style vibe. Â Depending on what you fancy, there is an option to order from a large variety of floats, sundaes and sorbets but the star is of course, the legendary Knickerbocker Glory.
Slightly tweaked from its original recipe, it comes layered with meringue and whipped cream sitting on top of strawberry ice cream, popping candy and shortbread biscuits. Â Once at the table it is sprayed with Orange Blossom, standing tall on a silver tray, this sweet sundae is complete decadence at its best.
Although an absolute delight, it costs a whopping 130AED, making it only possible as a rare treat for very special occasions.
