Flamingo Room by tashas is an ode to the timeless style and romance of bygone eras of Africa-it is a space where you will experience a side of Africa rarely seen. Flamingo Room by tashas displays the rich tapestry and soul that Africa has. Not through the cliché of drums and ethnic motifs, but by showcasing its glamour and amazing flora and fauna.

From the moment we step through the doors with their magnificent, hand-tooled brass handles featuring a cornucopia of African flora and fauna, it is obvious we have arrived at a place that is exceptional.

The striking decor boasts glowing baobab light installations overhead are the showstoppers of the room, perfectly complementing the playful animal prints and pink and gold decor. It is chic, glamorous and irresistibly instagram-worthy.

The menu focuses on modern versions of time-honoured recipes with an emphasis on seafood and homemade pasta such as Lobster Linguine and Exotic Mushroom Open Lasagne. Many other favourites include – Beef Carpaccio, Prawn Arancini, Classic Caesar Salad.

Among the starters, the aromatic Seabass Crudo is light and zesty, featuring jalapeños, crisp green apple, refreshing cucumber and fresh herbs. The indulgent second starter, Crab and Lobster Croquettes with crispy fennel and popcorn shoots was served with a side of creamy saffron aioli.

An absolute must-try for anyone visiting for the first time, the Calamari Mozambique is a rich, indulgent sharing dish, featuring tender calamari and squid heads cooked in velvety lemon butter and spicy peri-peri sauce. It’s topped with a generous serving of shoestring fries, which are tossed into the sauce—this dish is simply heavenly.

For dessert the wonderfully old-school Baked Alaska or the Pavlova Bomb is cracked open at the table to reveal its berry-jewel and gold-leaf filling. It is truly a show-stopping finale to a fantastic meal!
