FEELING THE HEAT? HEAD TO A REAL ICE BAR IN DUBAI

An Ice Bar in Dubai right in the centre of Sheikh Zayed Road to save you from the raging hot temperatures and transport you to Arctic weather.

Where do you head when the thermometer jumps to epic heights during Dubai’s long, hot summer? The city has a ski slope and ice-skating rink, but that’s no good if you want to relax and chat. Get your address book ready – as we’ve discovered the perfect place to hang out with your equally heat-exhausted friends and family…

Based within the leafy interior of Time Square Center on Sheikh Zayad Road, Chillout Dubai is the first ice lounge in the Middle East. The interior is made almost entirely of ice – from the chandeliers, to the sculptures, to the tables and chairs (don’t worry – they are covered so you will stay warm and dry when you sit down). Even the plates and glasses (in which mocktails are served) are made of ice. The temperature is a chilling -6’C – and you will entirely forgiven for thinking you have been transported straight out of the Middle East.

You will be given a thermal coat, hat, boots, and gloves before entering, so the experience is comfortable and enjoyable. A menu offers a selection of lunch options and warm desserts, alongside cold and hot drinks. We tucked into a satisfyingly oozy chocolate fondant, whilst sipping a sweet cup of cocoa. It was good, if a little sickly – but lets face it, the food and drink quality isn’t the reason that people head to the place.

You won’t want to stay in the lounge too long – up to 40 minutes is recommended – but it makes a refreshing and unique choice for lunch with friends or the lead-up to an evening out. Or simply head there when you’ve had enough of the suffocating temperatures when summer arrives.
