There is a gourmet Shop and Café in the Greens.
Pull out your address book because we are just back from discovering Pure South, a lovely friendly new specialty shop and café from Australia-the south to be very specific.
Located in The Green neighborhood directly overlooking Sheikh Zayed Road (it’s right beside Costa Café), it is a bit of a maze to get to once you park-parking is available inside the building and is accessible through the back.
The cozy setting at the entrance and the overall rustic interiors pay homage to all things Australia and it will immediately lure you in. The garden loveseat on the first floor is crafted from Australian red gum and we couldn’t resist a quick photo on it.
Grab a woven basket at the shop entrance and start browsing the shelves as there are plenty of appealing products to pick, with most brands introduced for the first time in Dubai!
Everything here is special and sourced directly from Australia-from the supply of Kombucha, to the variety of black garlic salt. There’s also handcrafted honey, ethically sourced organic coffee, variety of handmade nut butters, bean to bar chocolate and a range of spices and sauces for cooking including a large collection of flavored Dukkah, seaweed and superfoods to upgrade your salads.
The carefully curated beauty and wellness corner is filled with organic soaps, scrubs. It was our first introduction to the natural and organic Sienna Byron Bay nail polish brand that is breathable, vegan, and cruelty-free. You can also grab a yoga mat cleaner spray or scented candles by SoH or other homewares-we loved the ceramic mugs.
But it is not only the shopping that had us hooked but also the coffee and gourmet deli at the front of the shop. The counter serves freshly made quiche and sandwiches-don’t miss the moreish truffle cheese toastie. If you want something more decadent, then the breakfast brioche topped with ricotta and seasonal berries is a must-try.
Since we are obsessed with coffee from Australia, we were keen to try it at Pure South. Made with beans roasted in Sydney, we picked the quintessential Aussie coffee-a flat white that was perfectly rich and smooth. We ended up having two in the short time that we stayed.
This fine foods emporium, is a one-stop shop for all authentic Australian items. It has so much to offer and the aisles are worth browsing. But most importantly it is cheaper than most of the gourmet and grocery stores across Dubai.
