MAYABAY OFFERS A STYLISH SETTING AND A MENU ROOTED IN TRADITIONAL ASIAN CUISINE

Modernity meets tradition at MayaBay in Jumeirah Al Naseem.

Drawing inspiration from the dreamy island destination in Thailand, MayaBay is one of the most famous restaurants in the French Riviera. Originating from Monaco, it is defined by its unique interpretation of Thai and Japanese cuisines and its Dubai outpost offers an exquisite meal in the most serene setting. 

Perfectly nestled in Jumeirah Al Naseem’s beautiful turtle lagoon, MayaBay Dubai brings a refined perspective towards Asian dining from the heart of Monaco to Dubai. The decor is the perfect balance of tradition meets modernity. Inside one can’t help but marvel at the wood furnishings and the well curated decor-from the dazzling chandeliers to the beautifully crafted kokeshi dolls on display, every detail has been meticulously thought out to create a warm and elegant atmosphere. The views of course are unmatched, with the Burj Al Arab towering in the background and the turtles swimming at arm’s length from the tables. 

We pored over the menu for a while before settling on a mixed array of delectable starters-the moreish morsels of the fresh sushi and flame-grilled nigiri were absolutely delightful. The standouts include the Mayabay king crab roll and seared hamachi. The freshness of the fish and the precision with which it is artfully plated made it a joy to eat.

The crispy rock shrimp tempura with a spicy sauce and the duck spring rolls paired with a sweet sauce are certainly crowd-pleasers.

Among the mains the highlight was the fragrant red curry made with succulent black tiger prawns and a blend of Thai vegetables cooked in a homemade curry paste enriched with cracked coconut cream. This red curry, distinguished by a slightly thicker texture compared to its green counterpart, has a medium-spiced profile and strikes a delicate balance between salty and sweet notes.

The wagyu crispy garlic is cooked to perfection, rich in flavour, and addictively delicious. Using the finest quality A5 Wagyu beef, known for its exceptional tenderness, it is marinated in mushroom soy before being expertly grilled over hot coals. The dish is elevated with crispy ginger, garlic, and a decadent truffle mayonnaise.

The stir-fried morning glory is stir-fried in a garlic Asian bean curd and topped with crispy shallots for added texture. The base of the sauce has similar flavour tones to that of the Japanese miso and is steeped in the same manner, adding a deep and delicious umami flavour to the stir-fry.

Mayabay delivers a dining experience that is both refined and thoroughly enjoyable.
