Ramadan Nights at the Ritz-Carlton, JBR are a subdued and relaxed affair with none of the typical formalities usually associated with Iftars at 5-star hotels in Dubai.
Iftar is served in one of the ballrooms but the atmosphere remains intimate and comfortable despite the large size of the room. Â The menu is quintessentially Arabic but much to our delight it is not like those staid typical dishes we are so used to finding when eating buffet style. The mezza section is an absolute delight of fresh salads made in different styles from around the Middle East. Some of our personal favorites included the refreshing lentil salad with pomegranate and brown onions, beetroot moutabal and keshkeh, a fermented grain and yogurt dip.
The live shawarma station is a great feature along with the king fish marinated in tahini sauce. There are other classics including marinated mixed grills but it is the hearty roast lamb served with rice that is the main attraction for all the diners.
Desserts are also mainly Arabic sweets but it is the rose flavored ice cream that is a must-try.
Apart from the exotic Arabic dishes, the Ritz-Carlton iftar also offers live music for entertainment and attentive service making it an ideal spot to enjoy a meal with close friends and family this Ramadan.
